Treaty of Venice

Today, 27th March 1313, gathered in council in this city of Venice the Doge of the Republic of Venice, Giovanni di Baldino Suardo, and the Count of Flanders, Harald Magnusson, agreed and established the following Treaty of friendship between the two Kingdoms.


Article I - Legal Agreement

1. Justice:

The citizens of two Kingdoms found guilty of crimes against the same laws in force in the two Kingdoms will be judged by the Magistrate of the Kingdom where the crime is committed.

2. Freedom of movement:

Is granted to anyone, citizen of two Kingdoms signatory this Treaty, the freedom of movement in any territory under the dominion of the same Kingdoms, provided that respects the laws of the place and not to create disturbances among the population

3. Disputes:

The parties agree to settle disputes arising from this Treaty by an arbitrator chosen by mutual agreement and to accept as established by the referee.


Article II - Economic Agreement

1. Freedom of trade:

Is granted to anyone, citizens of the two Kingdoms, the same freedom of trade and non-discrimination with respect to local merchants in any territory under the dominion of the same Kingdoms, provided that respects the laws of the place and not to create disturbances among the population.

2. Exploitation of natural resources:

The two kingdoms agree to the free use of the exploitation of natural resources of the territories of the Kingdoms, with the limitation of one people allowed per resource at a time.


Article III-Military Agreement

1. Rebels

Kingdoms will help each other for conquering rebel provinces with the maximum effort possible.

2. Respect

Each Kingdom agrees to respect the other Kingdom’s Sovereign territories, and undertakes not to attempt to take any of the other’s territories by force or to attempt to overthrow the legal government of the other Kingdom.


Article IV- Right to Learn

1.Training

Is granted to anyone, citizens of the two Kingdoms, the right to study in the Academy and the right to train in the Ground at the special fare of 1 silver coin per hour.


Article V- Breach of the Treaty

1.Cancellation

1.1. Each commitment and mutual constraint will decay at the same time that will be proven breaches of one of the two subscribers to the detriment of the other.
1.2. Kings, their heirs, and successors are contractually obligated to respect this Treaty. Disregard of any clause(s) within this treaty frees the other party of this commitment.
1.3 To Cancel: A mail from the King will be sent to the other King, followed by an official and formal declaration published in the other Kingdom's RP Forum.

2. Review

A full or partial rewriting of the treaty or even its cancellation can be decided by mutual consent.

I, Giulia Aldobrandeschi, Queen of Flanders, do hereby confirm this treaty, signed on behalf of the Kingdom of Flanders by my predecessor King Harald Magnusson.
May our people prosper under this friendship treaty.
