The tale

There was a magnanimous king. Strong and wise. He was reigning huge empire, and all were envy. When his unbeaten army went through these lands, yes these were we are now, new battles were waiting for it on franks land. Since King was in long journey with knights, also his wife was there. When one of biggest battle was fighting, the Queen gave birth to boy..

King was in 7th heaven. Not because he won next battle, not cos he defeated his enemy once again. He was happy cos he has heir to the throne, successor of his Crown. He was even more proud cos the child was born on battlefield. He took his son, raided him to sky and baptize him in faith of his fathers. In this way the boy got the name - Bellior - the son of war.
Since the Kingdom was a part of theological church, this action couldn’t be leaved without consequences. However the King was enough powerful to defend his choices.

Young Bellior was growing up on battlefields. Wars was burning all from bone-dry  peshengians steps on far east to foggy british isles. The death has his time of harvest. But the Victory was all the time by King’s side. He was flying on wings made from all his hopes. The royal king knew how to use the sword (or rather the digger with eagles on it) before he could stand up. Same Bellior could ride on horse before you could walk. Indeed he was the son of war. Borned from war, and living for the war. He has only one destiny - to be a warrior and to win all what was possible to win.

Jjah began to talk about his life full of fights against enemies, dragons, fights for glory, for ladies.. but all that wasn’t interesting for children. They knew all that from other tales, so in this versions it wasn’t enough… thus he left all rubbish and began to talk about the Last Battle.

There was a Last Battle, and last enemy to win. The old skeletor with the scythe - the Death.
Bellior was full of proud and with unbelieveable self-esteem. He won all what he could, and lost all what could. He was  alone, alone but still unbeaten.
- only you can be equal opponent - said Bellior to the Death - came and try to win with me!

The Last Duel began. Old death wasn’t as fast as was son of war. Same Bellior was much better in fencing. He parred every her hit. But old skeleton was same unbeaten. Her power wasn’t from real world, so real hits couldn’t do anything to her. If she couldn’t be same fast in move, she was just disappearing. Bellior then could hit only in a dark fog. A lot of peoples were watching the fight, and soon all fields around were full of watchers.
After few days of fight son of war was angry like never before. Madness wasn’t good adviser… his hits were faster, but in same time he didn’t care of his defense. However nor his nor death’s hit didn’t make any injuries to both warriors. When Bellior’s sword found death’s body someone else was dying. Every his hit was a death sentence for one of watchers. Same when the Death hit Bellior not he was injured.. but someone else. Son of war was protected by ancient Gods, and the Death was protected.. by herself. When the battlefield were full of dead corps, corps of man, woman and kids, Bellior understand that he cannot win… Or even if can, the price will be huge.. too big for him. In angry he left his sword and shouted to his opponent:
- HIT ME! - so she did it, and in same time newborn screamed by the scream of death. Then Bellior understood all. This duel cannot be finished anyhow. And as long it goes on as long innocent peoples will be dying.

Thus the Son of War floored the death by his hit. He took her scythe and said his last words - even you cannot win with me, so I’m going away unbeaten, only I can win against myself, so even my defeat is my victory - after these words he did what shall do. He fall on the ground, fall unbeaten.

The weird campaign and the weirder discoveries - part 6

- After these words he did what shall do. He fall on the ground, fall unbeaten. - Virilis opened his eyes when he finished his tale. But that what he saw then, was even less real than whole story. He noticed same old man between kids. The old man from his dream. When their looks meet, the man said:
- I’m happy to see Your Highness in better health. Kids! It is enough! Give His Highness rest! go! go! - he was like shepard between his sheep. But for Jjah he wasn’t saver.. no, he definitely preferred kids than this unreal man with his rubbishes.
- How many times we have to explain you! We aren’t... - Jjah become be angry. He was always sensitive in this matter, and even if it was pleasant to listen such words, he was mad on it. Wrong titulature reminds him his low position. Old man stop Virilis speech by one gest of hand.
- Please.. let allow me, to show You, something, and explain mine words - said and beckoned on someone who was behind doors.

Young man went in. He was keeping two pieces of iron in hand. Iron plates were old and corroded, but man was keeping them like an artefacts.
- Please, take a look on it. It is ancient shield, we keep it in remembrance of most important guest in history of our city. - said old man. Virilis took a look on shield. That what he saw there didn’t allow him to focus on the story. Old man was talking about huge wars, great battles, the King who was fighting against Saxonian Empire. During the wars, the King was resting here. Since the peoples were hospitable, he gave them for memory his own shield. This visit was the
foundations of this city. Every kid knew name of the King who was there, every of them knew these symbols from shield - an eagle, and a griffin…
This griffin was well known for Jjah, it couldn’t be anything else than his own. He could explain why there is eagle also. However rest was too strange. Both crest were there keeping by an angel. All were put on ermine. Above it was crown, royal crown. It was exactly same crest like shall have every King of Polish Kingdom…

- whose coat of arm it is?! - asked sir Virilis
- His Royal Majesty, King Jjah the Great - answered old man.

The answer was unacceptable for Vassal. He knew history of his kingdom, and he knew every monarch. He was sure there wasn’t anyone with his name! Jjah jumped out of bed, and went out. He couldn’t listen anymore these rubbish. In the stable took he first horse, and went from this strange city. He has to check all in Royal Library once again.

When lord Virilis back home had no time to take of his matters. All days he was spending on building site. Many foreign workers came, and all needed a board and lodging. Second he promised for free, cos vassal was sure that money needed on first thing will increase weight of Royal Chest. Also new citizens who arrived to Krakov was a good sign. This winter won’t be so cold. Vassal’s hearth had a lot of reason to warm him up. Since he was busy, he had no time to think about bohemian’s events. Of course some of them was hidden deeply in his mind, and were the reason why sir Jjah was smiling in these days, even if he hadn’t any reason for that.

Being  the host was a perfect work for sir Virilis. Perhaps it wasn’t best for workers, or for their health. And maybe building would be faster without long nights in tavern. But that was costs of reign. Jjah the Hospitable had his own 5 minutes. Gifts received from guests was in some cases priceless.

- Can you hide it into ring? - asked Jjah blacksmith-boy
- If it would be whole horse’s tail, and ring would be as big as rings for barrels, then with pleasure, milord - answered naive man. Naive, cos he could expect that such answer can give him only hit straight in his head.
That was last time when anyone saw vassal of poland with workhammer. Safer as for him as for all around was when he had in hands only his hearth. The failure showed him, that Kingdom needs juwelier. Good one! But from where to take him, when even simple workers were worth his weight in (nomen omen) gold.

When Training Ground was over sir Vilis had finally a while for himself. First days he spent on training.. or on grooving in night. When he feel his strength is much bigger he left finally his work. When he closed doors from its office, he looked once  again on wild rose grooved under the entry. And he knew it is good. The rose - symbol of beauty of body, and pain closed into thorns of hard train.

In next cold day, his head was still warm. All old thought about nobility were back. He has to check all these gossips. Letter from Herald Office didn’t come. So he had to go there in person. All clerks knew that better is to talk with Vassal per letters. Now it was turn to enlighten higher office workers on this matter.

Virilis fell into office like a nordic wind. He shout from first while:
- Where is an answer! For a Crown sake!
- What kind of answer are you looking for, sir - asked calmly old man. Fortunately, for him, he had no choice for any joke.
- Dare you kidding us?! - vassal’s voice is sharp, same as his look.
- I’m not enough stupid, dear Lord. - official hided all heavy things from desk. It was safer to don’t have nothing danger near to sir Virilis.

Indeed, Jjah could kill in this moment. So good he wasn’t keeping hammer, since building was finished. Instead of it he was keeping the scroll. On it was drew a black griffin. Virilis opened the scroll and showed it to old man. He resigned from any talk. He couldn’t allow to himself to do anything stupid. Even if he was a vassal, his reign wasn’t enough powerful to be under power of heraldry. Nevertheless Jjah was used to give orders, not to ask in kind way.

- We arrived here to confirm our new coat of arm. Our, as Lord of Wielkopolska - said and pointed by finger at drawing - this one!
Official took a look on paper. He didn’t need even this while to know what kind of answer he has to give. But one thing is to know answer, and other to find the words to say it. He took a deep breath and said.
- Tradition would prefer other, ancient, coast… - said not sure how Virilis can react on such lesson. - A head of black buffalo with golden ring, would be perfect for Your Excellence as Lord of Wielkopolska. Same.. the eagle - last word he said with a whole devotion - the white eagle was a symbol of Major Poland. Additionally, it would be proper for vassal’s role. - Official hoped, that the symbol of eagle is good to bribe Jjah. Not this time.
- Are we asking you for an advice?! We don’t think so! - kindly explanation was just a begin of good mood of Virilis. - We want confirm, THIS, sign! We don’t need any eagle! And any COW! - last interpretation of ancient symbol wasn’t best choice. However sir Jjah forgot where he is. He just had to confirm his coat of arms, especially because he was using it in few last journeys.
- Your Excellence, I understood what Your Excellence want, I just have to show.. possible.. possibilities. - finally suggestion was understood by recipient.
- is it… means.. - Jjah drawling his words - it ISN’T possible?! MINE griffin?! The Black Griffin of Virilis’ family? Don’t we belong to this family?
- Sir. I didn’t said that. Your Excellency's proves look trustworthy…
- Thus.. are we part of ancient family?!
- I cannot deny.. but..
- Thus - every next word of Virilis was stronger and louder - aren’t this griffin the symbol of my family?!
- was.. - Official made a pause.
- if was, then also CAN BE NOW! - Jjah was shouting as loud as he could
- cannot - answered old man as quiet as he could
- CAN..NOT?! - Jjah has small problem to understand the answer. He put whole power of his incomprehension into it. The power of question almost broke the table, since after it went the fist. - is it reserved? - Jjah asked easier question.
- isn’t - official answered and move one step back, just in case..
- so what! - official's decision was good, since table is broken by next hit of fist
- Sir, you just cannot.. it is simply.. forbidden.. - said finally, and shout on guardians. But he knows it cannot help him too much.

Jjah took pieces of table in his hands and raised them up:
- If, we cannot be who we are, then we don’t need this title! - gave back his title with the table, who threw into official

When Jjah went from Office he went almost straight to the Castle. Almost, cos after so loud “talk” he had to make his throat wet. Best for that were few glasses of good honey. Of course, since Wuku Daku’s tavern had also great beer, Virilis had to stay there little longer. In next morning he came to the Castle.
- Let they prepare our bed - said to first guard who he saw there.
- Sir, I’m afraid, it isn’t possible - said the Guard and blocked up the way
- Are you kidding us? We are.. tired, just go away!
- Sir.. - Guard didn’t move, he just took out the scroll - a letter for you

Jjah snatched paper out from guardian hand. He opened it, and after every read word his eyes were more and more open. The color of his face became to be red, almost violet. Before he read to the end, he teared letter up, and threw away pieces. Without any word, Jjah turned, took out his sword and shouted only one order:
- all my guards! Follow me! - and went away. Few person left the castle and went after him.

The doors to Heraldry Office weren’t exists. Some pieces of them were visible everywhere around. The way to main office were flowered. Almost same like these ways on holidays, when girls are throwing petals. But in this case petals were looking little different. Pieces of furniture, scraps of paintings, snatches of gobelins and dots of.. blood were better in this time.

Main Office was opened. Also here doors went out, somewhere. Part of wall went for break as well. Office wasn’t looking better. It seems it took example from passage. Somewhere behind chaos was opened door - still in one piece. It was leading to Library. Probably scrolls weren’t same mad, because there was still an order. Perhaps an order was keeping by the darkness. Cos whole library were under its reign. Only small light was visible from beyond small doors on the end of room.

There was Virilis with his companions. Scarred official was looking for something on shelves full of.. dust and ancients scrolls. Official was little to red and violet, almost same as Jjah, but by other reasons. He knew he has to find that what Virilis is expecting, so he was first time so fast in his work.

After longer time, the box with a lot of scrolls was in Jjah’s hands. Virilis opened it and took first piece of paper. It had ancient royal seal. He started to read. After every next sentence ex-vassal became to be more white:
- We, Her Highness Maria, Queen of… bla bla bla.. Souvenir of Prussia, Red.. bla bla.. decide as follows.. - Virils began read more carefully, but most of words he left untold  - Virilis Family has to disappear from minds, hearts, and memories of all citizens of Kingdom. It shall be forgotten.. Jjah.. the Traitor, his son Ballior.. banished.. Any signs of their lives.. shall be erased.. Even this order shall be forgotten as well. Coat of arms.. cannot be used anymore.. all goods.. blabla, taverns.. blabla.. The Traitor.. - It was last word which could say Virilis. He fell down without consciousness..

When Jjah woke his up he was in travel to Bayern. Petrek took care of his lord. He was knowing one good doctor there, so now they were in Bavarian lands. During sleep Virilis was repeating one word - “traitor”, but now when he woke him up he forgot all:
- WHERE we are?! - asked patiently with whole courtesy - to the deepest hell?
- in a way, sir, to Bayern - said always calm Petrek.
- Bayern? What for?! We have no time for rubbish!
- Thus we go there for good reason, to doctor Freuder, sir.
- Freuder? - Jjah asked himself and was trying to find this name in his memory - this.. quack from mental idiots?
- Indeed, sir, doctor Freuder from House of Mental Charity.
- Soo.. - Jjah’s mind was working slowly like it would be after hard, full of wine night - we escort a psycho? But why.. we?
- Because sir is most important.. - answered Petrek - like always same in this case.
- Sure, we are important.. - said calmer Jjah and felt down on pillows.

end of October 1313

To hide real reason of visit in Bayern Jjah began his study on Oberbayern Universität. Retorica wasn’t big problem for Virilis, he could speech in any language (better or worse) but a grammar? Studying weren’t so easy like it was looking outside of academy. After every day Jjah was totally exhausted. Visit in doctor Freuder’s home wasn’t better. Thus our mental unstable character was happy when got the letter from Poland.

On the letter was royal seal. Inside was an appointment letter, like he expected. But the role.. was totally different than he was thinking.
- a judge?! For Rosaria’s lacunas sake! - after these words was much longer.. litany. But not praying or swearing were most important. - it is an INSULT! I won’t take this role!
Fortunately after some time his proud remind him that he is just a child of traitor, so he left this problem and back to studies.

In next day new letter disturbed Jjah. Letter was written in polish language but in english manner. The countryman was writing to him. But all what was there written warned Virilis. It seems someone want back.. to take over his role! Someone was planning to steal him his own dreams. Jjah couldn’t allow on it. He was back as soon as possible to Krakov.

a long november

When he back to the Capital he was feeling lost there. All were looking totally different when he was simple citizen.
Nights in his own home were worst. He forgot how bad hut was his property. After awaking he was always in bad mood.
The mood was lowering when he was opening new letters from the Traitor. Every talk with him makes Jjah more angry.
- He wanna be a King! Can you imagine it?! - Virilis was quarreling with Petrek, cos he could be open in talks with the Traitor. - and me?! I could be his puppet! His SLAVE! HA!
- it is unforgivable offense, sir - answered Petrek
- Indeed! In.. deed! I will show him, who rules here! I will! Give me a piece of paper - ordered Jjah
- But, sir, you don’t rule here in present time.. - Petrek knew it wasn’t best idea to say anything like that. But it was too late.
- Don’t we rule here?! Aren’t we?! We will show to ALL! All of THEM!
- You will, sir. You will, if you save the Kingdom! Alone! You, sir, will be the Protector of the Crown - Petrek was counting that this dream will be interesting for his lord. It was last chance to stop this warm-headed person.

Same talks were repeating every day. It was quite tiresome for both of them. But after every quarrel Virilis was ready to keep going with his hard work. He had to cheat the Traitor. As long as this warmonger believe that Virilis can organize all.. as long organisation will be one huge nothing. But what if he will get an allies inside Kingdom...?
