[ORP] Orso in town
« on: 07 February, 2013, 08:00:22 AM »
Orso felt the urge to live closer to his native land.
So he decided to say goodbye to the Duchy of Milan and begin a journey to the North. under the guidance of their ancient gods.
His destination, the town of Brugge, where he had heard there reigned a person noble and powerful, Count Magnusson, Nordo man like him.
Arrived at dusk in the town of Flanders, wasted no time and went immediately to the inn, where, after a hearty dinner, he decided to put to rest after the long journey.
On waking her first thought was a thing of vital importance....the breakfast:
"Now, after a good breakfast, I will write to the Count, asking permission to settle here and put me in his service. But now a double breakfast! AHAHAHAH."

After a day spent to the harbor, Harald was heading back to the Palace. He was walking in the snow, passing between his people absorbed in his thoughts. His Guards straight behind him. He was used to pass through the central place of Brugge to give a glance to the market, heritage of his merchant past, but that day his feet drove him near the Malpertuzes, his preferred inn.

Soft snow was falling down again.

While walking he heard a powerful voice coming from inside the inn. He immediately recognized the northern accent of that man and he stopped. Without thinking too much he opened the door and went in and said “Hvem våger å forstyrre freden i min favoritt inn?” (Who dares to disturb the peace of my favorite inn?)
All the people stopped to eat, to talk and turn their face toward the man on the door. Immediately they recognized their Count.

"á Ásgarð! Who disturbs my breakfast? Man, I have a great patience, so let me finish or is it better if you pray Thor not to grant me his fury! "
Bear sees the soldiers around man and rubs his hands ... "Well, I'm still waiting for an answer and I'm not afraid to break some bones more!"

Harald stopped his men with a gesture of his right hand. They relaxed a bit but their hands didn’t leave the sword’s hilt.
The silence fallen on the inn’s hall was full of tension.

Harald looked the man directly in his eyes; he knows what kind of man he has in front of him, a typical northern warrior easy to the scuffle. He has seen many of them while in Viken.

Harald started to laugh “Ah! Ah!  Thor is busy in giving his might to the warriors! Maybe you meant that Freya could give you her skills to crop a field! You seem too flimsy to be a warrior, especially a northern one! Ah! Ah!

The men turned red in his face. Slowly he stood up from his chair. Harald listened the Guards draw their swords.

Barman! Bring a couple of ales to this table! I have to talk with this young northern female!” Harald said, his glaze never losing the man in front of him.

The man was surprised about Harald request, and stood a little bit confused.

Orso looked at the man. Now he saw his features, a northern man like him!
"Barman! Also Two beers for me, now!" and sat down at the table where the man asked him, a little confused;
"So ... I guess you are the Count Magnusson ... and I'm a complete idiot! AHAHAHAHHAHA" and drank his beer in one gulp, then wiping the foam from his beard with his arm.
He stood up and then knelt inelegantly, as someone who has never done very often.
"I had a long journey to get to Brugge and place myself at your service ... my arms, my strength, my ax, my life is at your disposal Lord. If what I've heard about you is true only half I think I'll enjoy "stood up and held out his big hand, smiling to the Count Harald.

"So ... I guess you are the Count Magnusson ... and I'm a complete idiot! AHAHAHAHHAHA"

Harald saw the man realize who the man in front of him was and his reaction was what Harald expected from him… a laugh.

The man stood up and offered his hand. Harald hold his hand and perceived the strength of the northern man. He knew what an oath means for a northern man.

"I had a long journey to get to Brugge and place myself at your service ... my arms, my strength, my ax, my life is at your disposal Lord. If what I've heard about you is true only half I think I'll enjoy"

He saw the proud in the man’s eyes.

Then Harald sat at the table waiting for their ales and asked “well man, you know who I am, but I don’t know anything about you, so tell me, I’m curious to know what drove here another northern man."

*Our Ancient Northern Gods are witnesses of such an oath, man, if you fail to your word the Valhalla will be forbidden to you, if you keep faith to it you’ll be escorted in the presence of Odin himself, and you’ll be among the greatest Northern Warriors.

May the Gods bless you.

"Oste get us something to eat!" Then he turned to the Count "Nothing better than meat and beer when it comes to talking." Not many would agree with Orso, but everyone has their own ideas.
"I was born in the North, ... I did not know my mother, but I discovered it was a peasant girl who I later had a violent bully of a Lord. I do not know if it's true, I just know that I grew up with Count of my land native, and when I discovered the truth after years of research, I have done justice and my childhood ended at age 14.
Killed the Count, and I set fire to his castle. Then I wandered aimlessly for several days, until I was found almost dead by a group of Scottish mercenaries, men were crude, but of honor became my family.
I went from battle to battle until one fateful day, we fell in an ambush in Abruzzo.
Died all my mates, and he was going to touch me, a bear, a giant bear came out of the bush and a few paw killed my attackers.
He turned to me with the look bad and we stared at each other for what seemed to me endless moments, approached me and sniffed ... his eyes became soft, he turned and walked away.
From that day a little for my character a little in this matter I took the name of Orso.
I went to Ferrara, where I remained for some time, before I met Cagliostro during one of his trips to the merchant.
We became good friends, although it took time, distrusted everyone.
He convinced me to move to Milan, where I met other attractive people, as Lady Julia. I joined his group, and here I am.
This is my story, you're one of the few people to know. "
Orso's face turned towards the fire and for a moment he gave up thinking about his past.

Harald was overlooking the work at the Cathedral building site. Works were going faster, as most of the things during these last months in Flanders.

The Cathedral was at a very good point of completion. While watching at the people at work he was thinking to the young northern man met some days ago in an Inn. He thought to what the man told about his life till he reached Flanders with lady Giulia.

It was a common story among the young northern men, a story of blood and escape from their own land, with an unknown future and with no place to come back soon.

The boy was a hard worker. He worked in Andernach to build up the market and the tavern there for his new community. Finally he decided to follow the young Italian Lady in her adventure to build up a Fiefdom there.

But now Harald needed the man for a different task, a task of war, and no one would have been better for such an assignment than a northern man.
