Above the real coat of arms of Liège.

Under is the coat of arms of Namur.

Well, i have to say Robrecht de Béthune make a mistake with the coat of Liège : The coat he show is the coat of the Proince de Liège wich is very recent coat.

The coat of the town of Liège is that one :

From the middle age to the independance of the Belgium, the coat of the Principauté de Liège is that one :

So, if you considère Liège in the game just as a town, you have to use the firt one.  But if you considère that is the Principauté, you have to use the second one.

I have to say that the Principauté of Liège was un independant state during the middle age.  It wasn't under contrôl of the flanders cont.  It is a huge mistake for the administrators of the game to put Liège under control of any comt of duche.

By the way, many people, inhabitants of Liège too, think that the letters L and G on the coat is a short way to whrite Liège (The confusion is that Lg is often use to whrite Liège shorter).  In fact, L G means : Libertas Gentis.  In french : Liberté du peuple. In English : Freedom for the people.  The Pincipauté was the first democracy at that time. But don't forget that the meaning of Democracy is really changeable with era and geography  ;)

Thanks for the update.

Although Liège wasn't placed under the control of Flanders, it was indipendent, then it was conquered... by us...  ;D

Dear Lord Karlu Anguerand,

You're right with the coat of arms of Liège. And yes, the admins of this game mixed up a lot, especially with our regions  ::).

They mixed up Cities with Counties, Duchies with Principalities... etc., etc. ... and even with the geography they played, but I can confirm that Liège started as an Independant region which we conquered several months ago  8).

We're aware that Liège was a Principality for a long period within the Medievals.

Considering you're reply, I presume you're from Liège or at least from the region of Liège and that you're interested in history, like we do. Therefore we appreciate very much your input on this matter. If you know more about the history of Liège during this specific period of the Principality, please, post and tell us about it. It's very appreciated and very interesting.

N'hésitez pas à nous en apprendre davantage sur la Principauté de Liège.

Kind Regards,
