(Closed RP) Office, Top floor, Red Tower, Savoie
« on: 26 June, 2013, 07:42:45 AM »
While his palace is under construction, David von Habsburg, the yet-to-be coronated king of savoy, went about his business in the red brick tower of savoie, overlooking the booming city. The war in the English isles meant that some of the citizens of savoy are risking their lives in the north, leaving behind a confident yet solemn citizenry.

Tired and slightly wounded but still full of life, David walked up the stairs of the Red Tower to his empty Office. War time means that this office will still have to remain bare.

He takes out a scroll that documents the attendees at the fateful Battle of Toulouse. Intended primarily as a distraction battle from the Conquest of London, this Battle has seen one of the most remarkable developments in recent history. The Iberian League and the Italics for the first time ever stood in battle alongside the Savoyard Flag.

The sun was just rising, David notices through the large window right behind his desk.

Turning back to his desk, he lays the scroll on the table:

Attackers: Teobaldo Da Spina, Luis Francisco Mendoza, Brian Breatnach, Konstan Gallaecus, Duddu Martini, Dinis Afonso, David von Habsburg, Pappsack Leiningen, Nero Haintz, Vieri Bas-serra, Mastino Della Rovere, Lothar Von Ostern, Francesco Machiavelli, Niccolò Da Tolentino, Berton Berton, Freyia Varano, Christian Doria, Giovanni Perasso, Massimo Piacere, Francesco Maria Doria, Muhammad Bin Hussein, Carlo Southlanders, Enrico Hohenstaufen, Sigurd Hardrada, Maximilian von Habsburg, Emma Savelli, Lello Da Chianciano, Colombo Varano, Cathbodva Hern, Vera Ranieri, Willa Carroz, Draco Borgia, Alfonso Borgia, Pedro Mendoza, Holger Hardrada, Andrea Tanca, Jacopo Este, Francesco Caracciolo, Malik Bin Hussein, Emanuele Orlando, Rodrigo Mendoza, Ferdinando Sforza, Giovanni Dè Medici, Carlo Colonna, Ignacio De Oviedo, Lannus Faul

Theos bless these men and women. And Savoy will always look upon them as brothers and sisters!

//Meanwhile, far away from the Tower//

For at least 120 days, David has been in deep meditation alone in the woods of Valais, occasionally meeting with the guard captains for military updates and several small scale skirmishes with rebels throughout the far flung Savoyard nation.

The Red Palace that was newly built for David was still maintained, but David has not stepped into the palace.

During this meditation, David reconsidered the meanings of war, victory, honour and glory. With a final realisation, David decides that its time to return.

//Back in the Tower//

Stepping into the Red Tower, David was stopped in his tracks by the imposing statue of Mathilda von Hapsburg - his spiritual mother. This was the exact replica of the statue that greeted him in Osterreich. He proceeded up the stairs to his office, head hung low, still deep in thought...

Entering his office at the top of the Red Tower David took a seat at his desk. On the shelves were an array of things - tributes from all parts of the kingdom, gifts from other kingdoms, expensive decorations bought to add colour to the room.

David took an ivory tusk off the shelves and walked to the window.

Looking out of the window David could see the town, and the townsfolk running about their business. The gleaming tusk reflected the colours below. The contrast between the riches of the shelves and the plight of his poorest subjects shocked him, and he turned to call out for the servants.

As the chief attendant Oscar walked in, David said to him,

"Oscar, take all these gifts, sell them to the highest bidders in town and distribute the money among the people. Every man, woman and child, as long as they queue will get an equal share of these riches. And do this forever more, as long as I am king of Savoy. I will write a royal edict to include this as one of the conventions of my administration."

David promptly walked to his desk and wrote the edict:

By royal decree, from the day of 17th November 1313, until the end of the reign of David von Habsburg,
the kingdom will allocate 15 silver from the treasury
every week on Sunday,
to every active citizen of Savoy - defined as having logged in that weekend (either Saturday or Sunday).

OOC: The savings list will be updated through the following link:
