Un saluto - Farewell
« on: 10 November, 2018, 07:05:44 PM »
Ciao a tutti,

So di aver dimenticato certamente qualcuno e me ne dispiaccio. Auguro sinceramente a tutti ogni bene.

Harald

Hi everyone,

I spent a good part of my free time of the last (almost) 7 years playing ME and I knew that sooner or later it would be time to close. I always told myself that I would leave the game the moment the fun would break and that moment has arrived. Recent developments have led me to make this decision. I always told myself how I would have 'die' Harald, if fighting in a war against the Danes, if he sacrificed to Odin as the Vikings did in their time and sincerely I still do not know.

Beyond everything I take this space and some of your time to thank you for the fun you have given me over the years. ME was a beautiful game that has known, thanks to the other players, to give me the opportunity to get into, slowly, my character. I have always interpreted Harald trying to remain faithful to how I had created it and wanted it: gruff, stubborn, planner, but also loyal and correct. I hope I succeeded.

Pages of posts would not suffice to thank all those who played and rolled with me properly, friends and IG enemies, but I want to remember some because I had fun with them, with some I discussed, but all have been able to give me something as a player and for that reason I'm grateful to all of you.

So here are those to whom I want to say thank you personally with their IG names: Giovanni Pignatelli, Fabio Massimo, Carlo Colonna, Heinrich Hohenlohe and Henry my friends of Bellum Crucis and Total war; Freyia Varano for having been friends in game and especially beyond the game; Jehan Desains, Nogwa More, Robrecht de Bethune, Jan Klaasens and the other old Flemings of the first hour who accepted me in their community and who we then brought together among the best IG place to play in; Giulia Aldobrandeschi for sharing with me part of the journey having fun together as the Lady of Andernach; Prometeo Cagliostro to be a great player and a true friend; Tebaldo Colleoni, Alexxandra D’Avalos, Giovanni Tornabuoni, Ancilla Hospain and Wolfram Adelmannsfelden for sharing the pleasant months of Flemish play with me, it was a lot of fun; Karrel Devitt and Janus (current Pope) for the time played together in France; Marius von Hessen-Homburg, Almerich Jansen, Eleonore von Lindenau my old Saxon friends with whom we shared years of play together, agitated but beautiful; my longtime friend James Broden among the first to join me in Sweden, thanks for the wonderful years of playing together mate; Costance d'Hauteville and the Danish group, my 'enemies', you have been good, you are a beautiful community (but you could have left some damn’ region to us!!!); my great 'Scots' friends Aviendha Althor (my favorite traveling Grandma), Bruce Enderson and Sandy wallace; my English friends James Balliot, Michael Soldano, Aegis Rex, Eike Repgow, Leonardo Martini, Ciaohound Balliot and the rest of the crew with whom we are have fun plotting and organizing things; Dusan Nemanjic to be a great player, honest and correct (but why damn’ you married Isabella???) and Eddard Stark for being stubborn as well as I am but a true respectful player; my friend Hector Barbossa, thanks for the fun together mate; Declan Howe and Scott Mcfergus to be two wonderful players and two very good people; Elizara Gray to be a great player and a remarkable strategist with a really 'gnocca' (ask to our Italian friends for its meaning) avatar; my Russian 'friends', you are tough players; the players of Rome and Sicily for reviving the game with your war; Palmerino/Colapece for the fantastic RPG you could do; Isabella (help! Here I have to be careful ...) you are a great player and very good with the RPG, but listen to me, detached a bit from your character; last, but not least of course, 'my' Swedes of yesterday and today ... Sophie, Marius, Almerich, Kol, Geraard, Sven, Gustav, Ingemar, Erik, Bulvi, Lorenzo, Runik, Katarina and all the others, thank you for playing together with me and have created a wonderful community of players from nothing.

I know I've certainly forgotten someone and I'm sorry. I sincerely wish everyone all the best for your lives.

Harald

It has been an honor.
Was actually hoping to defend the Holy See some day from Your viking raiders. Guess we are both beyond that now. Too bad.

Your ideas on community and improvements too were always spot on. I think the loss of that part will hurt just as much as the loss of your character. So much food for thought and never served weak or half baked.

If any player was ever going to be nominated as a dev I would have picked you.

There IS still time for you to reconsider.....but as I already said, you do not do half baked when you speak. Would love to be wrong though. Just think about it.

Proud to have been together with you on some projects. Maybe again in others.

Salute !

Buon viaggio vecchia volpe!

Mio caro “Nemico”,

My dear "Enemy",

I spent 5 years of my life in this game meeting your char since the first months of Costance's life. You never left me alone since our first meeting, often putting sticks in my way.
Our streets have often and always been crossed in a tumultuous way giving life to some good moments in gdr: moments of tension, moments of "forced" tranquility, moments of fun (I will never forget when I saw you naked in the tub of your royal apartments ;) ).

Dozens and dozens of letters between our characters have not brought great progress in the relations between them, but they have taught us to know each other a little and understand that we are both great heads hard.
For Harald resentment for how he ' behaved, for the player a great deal of respect especially for how he' given to do with suggestions to improve the game.

I did not agree on some of your choices and sometimes on the language of Harald, but I must admit that your presence was for me a constant incentive to keep my group united and ready to fight you, so ... yes, I must admit, you helped to create a union between the Danes of multiple backgrounds and languages, all compact in facing the enemy. And for this I thank you.

I wish you the best in your real life and if you ever think again and feel nostalgia for our skirmishes, it will be a pleasure to find yourself here.
Good life and good luck for everything.

I am sad to hear this news. When I joined many years ago, it was you, Bruce and Sandy that welcomed me into the Scottish fold, and helped me grow in this world. It was a fun ride and I will never forget you.

It was an honor.

"You to die, I to live. Which is better, only God knows."
- slight modified version from a famous quote of Socrates

Perhaps you won't have to see the death of this game. Or I'll see a better /worse version of this game. None of us knows. But I respect your decision based on the unfortunate and unexpected circumstances. If I were in your position, I would take similar actions.

I wish you and your family the very good mother earth can provide with the permission of the Lord (if you are a believer of any faith). And who knows, maybe after couple of years you will find a better game and better company than ME :)

Always be positive and firm in your decision.

Extra: If I were in your position, I would actually attack Denmark, doesn't matter what would be the outcome ;) Alas, we most probably will never see the dance of the northmen xDD

Enjoy your life and when possible, help others ^_^

Most of the time if we participated in the same conflict with Harald - we was on different sides :) Once we almost got on one side, but mercenaries was cancelled.

I remember conflict in Saxony and how emotional you was, arguing of rules, cheats and other things. From there I learned new figure of speech: "flying f..k" ;D

Such emotional people usually are not so good in organizational duties, but for some reason Harald is exception. Do you know many persons who was able to organize new kingdom from zero or whole new church? I only knew Vladimir Cheshirev, who created Patri, but he had huge community to help him. Harald had much less resources for his mission.

Nice work, Harald!

P.S: if you suddenly decide to stay (or return), I won't troll you for indecisiveness :)

... haha well because she is best person I met here :D

Anyway its a sad day for ME and also for all players as they are losing either their good friend or a worthy foe... For me its mixed, probably both :)
Its sad for ME to see any of players leave and esspecially old players as you are who invested a lot of time in growth of our community...

We know each other for a long time , since the very beggining of my character and there were times when we got along well and also times when we were arguing. But all that aside , no one will deny that you have been a very good player and that future generations of ME players will remember you as creator of Kingdom of Sweeden and the Norse faith. So the character will maybe leave ME , but its legacy will stay as long as the game lives!

I understand your decision as those words you got from administration was not really nice and probably majority of players would do the same as you do now... However if you decide to come back to the game I guess all of players will welcome you either as a friend or an valuable foe :)

So maybe our paths cross again or no ... If not, then I wish you and your family best of luck in RL on all fields... And I hope that you will free time you by now invested here , use it now in smarter way. :D

Farewell King Harald , a friend and foe and great player of Medieval Europe , may the fortune smile upon you!

Lord Harald,

It was a real pleasure to be able to play ME together with you. Many times I also thought to leave ME, because ME is no longer the fantastic game it once was. After a while, I probably will make the same choice as you.

When I entered 7y. ago ME , in the County of Flanders, it was in its full glory. I was warmly welcomed by the former King and Priest of Flanders, but a year later the former King of Flanders had disappeared from the scene. Months Flanders was on last gasp. I muddled what to grow wheat, to clean the prison, and to bake bread to survive.
Not much happened in Flanders ... until you came. As the new King of Flanders. I remember your first question to me very well: Lord Robrecht de Béthune, is cleaning the prison, growing wheat and baking bread the only thing you want to keep doing in Flanders?

Thank you for making Flanders a great and powerful Kingdom. After realizing this, the time came you wanted to wander to other places. But first you provided a worthy successor for Flanders before leaving Flanders.

Thank you for your time and effort. It was a great time together in ME. I will remember you. Much prosperity and happiness in RL.

See you, my friend.

My dear, I hope you somehow get to read this, I am so sorry I'm late.

You were one of the few players I truly respected for you gameplay, so I am deeply sad to see you go. But I'd be a hypocrite if I asked you to come back/stay. I actually can't believe you left before I did. Just another name on the already long list, I guess.... Anyway, I hope to get the chance to play with you again, in a different game that is actually still good and fun.

Farewell dear "Harald"...
