Church in Jerusalem
« on: 23 June, 2018, 10:13:08 AM »
With jubilation I announce to all of you that the Church in Jerusalem has been built! It will be the place of prayer, reflection and encounter. It will be the home of us all, where we can meet Theos.
As soon as our Bishop His Excellency Athanaisos Koinovitis nominates the parish priest we will celebrate mass.
That Theos be praised.

Ernesto had finally arrived home after all those months of traveling. He had missed the construction of the new Theological Parish at Jerusalem, but now at last, he was able to return home.

Leaving his goods in the care of his family servants, he approached the church with his older brother Valentino beside him.

"So, Ernesto, are you pleased with the church?"

"Yes, brother, it is quite beautiful. Smaller, of course, than the Grand Cathedral of Caesarea, but still very elegant. Let's walk inside."

They both entered the sanctuary, and knelt in silent prayer.

Ernesto then started to pray aloud:

"Father Teos, I thank you for leading me back to Jerusalem where I was born, although my family are from Lucca. I thank you for the Theological community in the Kingdom of Jerusalem, for our beloved Cardinal in Caesarea and our Bishop in Suez, so nearby. I feel unworthy of the task that you have given me, but am grateful for the presence of such holy and wise mentors to guide me. I pray that you will enable me to serve you well in this community. In the name of Immanuel, I pray. Amen"

Celestine woke up very early that morning, still missing many hours at dawn. He had to go to Jerusalem to greet the new parish priest who had taken office the day before.
After doing his ablutions and praying in the small private chapel of the Cathedral he climbed into the closed carriage, opened the heavy red curtains and appeared as the carriage departed, towed by a splendid gray horse and escorted by four Jerusalem soldiers. With him there was his trusted deacon who was used to these early days and in fact, peacefully fell asleep ..

They arrived in Jerusalem that the sun had just risen, the air began to heat up, it was announced a hot day. In front of the Church gathered people who were attracted by the news of the arrival of the new parish priest, waiting intrigued, trying to peek through the doors of the portal, finely decorated with scenes from the Holy Books, but remaining outside the Church.

Celestino got out of the carriage and hurried to the entrance to the Church. People were moving as he passed, someone bowed, others just looked at him. He smiled at everyone and blessed them, then entered the Church, the silence was absolute, the first rays of the sun filtered through the decorated windows, making the mystical atmosphere. He came to the altar, knelt down and began to pray. Then he got up and asked his deacon to go and look for the new parish priest, he could not wait to meet him.

Ernesto came and knelt before the Cardinal, watched by his brother and extended family.

“Greetings your Eminence, I am deeply honored by your presence on this occasion. I hope to serve Theos faithfully under your guidance.”

Ernesto wondered what to do next. He had just been given a new Holy Book, but his tunic was not ready yet and the Bishop had been delayed in his arrival. Today would be the first Sunday service since his ordination but he would have to defer to Cardinal Celestino. Without the correct tunic, Ernesto would not even be allowed to assist him beyond the role of a lay deacon.

"Cardinal Celestino, I have always deeply appreciated your sermons and prayers, as well as your choice of hymns, when you preach at Caesarea. Your ability to draw applications and spiritual truth from the Sacred Scriptures is unparalleled in living history, second only to that of our Pontifex Alexander VII. On behalf of the theological faithful in Jerusalem, we welcome you and look forward to hearing your wisdom as you lead us today."

Ernesto stood with his parents, brother, sister, brother-in-law and other friends and family as they took their positions. Ernesto's mother whispered how proud she was to have a priest in the family.

The family servants has taken to acting as ushers alongside the official caretaker, all of whom seemed to defer to the Cardinal's deacon when unsure of what was needed and what went were.

The very front row was reserved for royalty, bishops, royal officials and other high officers. The next few rows contained Ernesto's family and close friends.

The remainder of the rows were filled by the congregation of the faithful.

There was an air of quiet expectancy as everyone waited for Ernesto to start speaking, or were they waiting for Cardinal Celestino to start speaking? The church caretaker gave a nod to Ernesto, as if to say everything is ready. He quickly glanced over at the deacon and the Cardinal before turning to face the congregation.

"Brothers and Sisters, I greet you all in the name of Theos, Immanuel and the Logos. We are gathered here together to worship the one true living God.

"It was been a long wait, but now Theos has reclaimed Jerusalem for Himself. Thanks to the benevolence of our Queen Gilda Mirisi we can enjoy religious freedom and now thanks to the efforts of our Cardinal and Bishop, and all those of you who laboured hard, we have our own local parish where we can spend time in prayer and reflection, to deepen our love for Theos.

"Today is the first Sunday since my ordination, it is properly called Immanuel's Day (not Sunday), the day on when we remember His resurrection.

"My apologies that I cannot yet administer the sacraments by myself, but we are indeed blessed to have with us, His Eminence, our own Cardinal Celestino Borromeo, who will lead us today."

Celestino worn the sacred clothes started towards the altar opened his arms and began:

"Brothers and sisters gathered in this holy place pray for the Holy Spirit to descend upon you."

Lord, make my faith strong and fear no adversity,
but it is strengthened in the test, remaining firm in the truth.

Lord, let my faith be full of joy bringing peace to me
and open your heart to prayer, radiate its bliss.
Lord, grant that my faith is always active in charity,
research and testimony and hope food.
Lord, let my faith be humble and do not rely on me,
but know how to surrender to the Spirit and obey his Church.

Grace and peace in the holy Church of Theos be with you all.

Dear brothers, before dedicating this new church with a solemn rite,
let us beseech the Lord our God, for he blesses this water with which
we will be aspired as a sign of penance in the memory of our Baptism.
May the Lord help us with his grace, so that they may be docile to the Spirit we have
received, we remain always faithful in the holy Church.

Holy Father, light and life of every creature,
in your immense love for men
not only support them with your providence,
but with the outpouring of your Spirit you purify them from sins
and always bring them back to Immanuel, leader and Lord.
In the design of your mercy you wanted man,
immersed sinner in the waters of Baptism,
die with Immanuel and rise innocently to new life,
made member of his body and heir of his kingdom.
Bless and sanctify this water
that will be sprinkled on us,
because it is a sign of the baptismal washing
that makes us in Theos new creature and living temple of your Spirit.
Grant to your faithful today gathered in this church
and to all those who will celebrate the holy mysteries in the future
to come together in the sky.
For Immanuel our Lord.
Amen.

Celestine descended among the faithful and with the Holy Water he blessed them and blessed the four walls of the Church and finally blessed the altar.

hen he took the incense and continued:

Come up to you, Lord, the incense of our prayer;
how the perfume fills this temple,
so your Church spreads the sweet fragrance of Immanuel in the world.
mother always fruitful in the power of the Spirit.
Holy Church, chosen vineyard of the Lord,
that covers the whole world with its branches
and bound to the marble of the column raises its shoots up to the sky.
Blessed Church, dwelling of Theos among men,
holy temple built with living stones on the foundation of the Coriphei,
in Immanuel, fulcrum of unity and cornerstone.
Sublime church, high city on the mountain,
clear to all for its brilliance
where it shines, perennial lamp, the Lamb,
and the chorus of the blessed is raised with joy.
Now, Father, surround this church with your holiness,
so that it may always be a holy place for everyone;
bless and sanctify this altar,
to be a table always prepared for the sacrifice of your Son.
Here the source of grace wash our faults,
because your children die of sin
and reborn to life in your Spirit.
Here the holy assembly gathered around the altar
celebrate the memorial of Easter
and he nourishes himself at the banquet of Immanuel's word and body.
Here the liturgy of praise resounds
and the voice of men is joined to the choirs of angels;
here the incessant prayer for the salvation of the world rises to you.
Here the poor find mercy, the oppressed gets true freedom
and every man enjoys the dignity of your children,
until everyone comes to the full joy of paradise.
For our immanuel Lord, your Son, who is God,
and lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
for all the centuries.

The rite of consecration had ended, Celestino remained silent for a few moments, then began his homily:

Today is a day of celebration, today is the day of the Lord. Today, in this Church, our Diocese has been completed. In every land and city belonging to it it is possible to celebrate Mass and to pray and carry out the sacred rites.
Today, Jerusalem has its new Pastor, the Reverend Father Ernesto Strozzi. He will lead this theological community, he will be a beacon of faith, he will be Father, Brother, Friend of all of you and of all those who, pilgrims, will come to these lands.
I looked into this man's eyes, I tried to scrutinize his soul: in it the Logos is alive, he is a man worthy of the trust of us all. A hard, difficult task awaits him. It will be a journey full of obstacles, of temptations. Eldiavolique is astute, moves in the shadows, comes in disguise ... it is not easy to recognize. You, Reverend father Ernesto, my son, you must resist, do not give up, do not give in. I am at your side but above all Theos will be at your side, know that It will never abandon you. I have given you the Holy Book, it will be your shield, your sword. The Holy Robe will be your armor. Now you are a soldier of Theos.

The Lord be with you.

Theos, who has gathered you today for the dedication of this house,
fill you with his grace and his peace.

Immanuel, you build yourself as living stones of his spiritual temple.

The Spirit of Theos dwells in your hearts
and unite you with the glorious communion of the saints.

And the blessing of the omnipotent Theos,
Father and Son and Holy Spirit,
descend on you and with you always remain.

Glorify the Lord with your life. Go in peace.

Afterwards the church caretaker approached Ernesto showing him a package received from Cardinal Istvan Hunyadi. He opened it to reveal a beautiful coat of arms and wax seal.

I was glad when they said to me,
"Let us go into the house of the LORD."
We have been standing
Within your gates, O Jerusalem!

Jerusalem is built
As a city that is compact together,
Where the pilgrims go up,
The people of the LORD,
To the testimony of Immanuel,
To give thanks to the name of the LORD.
For there the people are assembled,
The community of Theological faith.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
"May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls,
Prosperity within your palaces."

For the sake of my brothers and sisters,
I will now say "Peace be within you."
Because of the house of the LORD Theos
I will seek your good.

Theos is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we are Theological but walk in darkness,
then we are false to the faith and do not practice the truth.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Immanuel His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Henrik stood in front of the church and shouted to the crowd.

“I am Henrik the Fearless. I will repair the church until my dying day. You may arrest me and try me, but I shall become a Martyr for the Faith, to inspire others.

Do you not fear Theos? Lay down your pickaxes!”

Anne had a dilemma. She felt that the need in Cyrene was greater and did not want to be arrested while still a papal candidate ...
