Guglielmo Previews of 2.9.5
« Reply #1 on: 18 August, 2017, 12:40:32 PM »
[This is a preview of release 2.9.5, code is not yet present on live server]

Guglielmo, as soon as was appointed Academy Director, deposited the required materials in Academy Storage and proceeded to start the project for the upgrade of the Academy to Level 2.

He was eager to install a new Course for Rome Citizens once the upgrade was complete.

"How many coins per hour would be a fair wage?" - Guglielmo wondered. "Let's make it 3 s.c. per hours so my cocitizens will help to upgrade the Academy faster".

"Ok, hmm, I better give a good example and start to work on it" - thought Guglielmo while equipping the workhammer.

"I will work for only one hour, I have to work on somewhere else -- 3 silver coins can be handy -- I cannot eat another rat's soup !"

After much work, the Academy was finally upgraded to level 2! Guglielmo - the Academy Director - proceeded to activate the course Metallurgy I, that when completed will give to a student the skill Recuperate Iron. Guglielmo was happy because he received many demands about people wanting to learn how to recuperate irons from used items.

Before dedicating some times to learn Metallurgy I, Guglielmo decided to check the Room where Logica was teached. He wrote a sign informing the students of the new rules for every course teached at Academies: every student needed to bring and use a Student Kit (Ink plus pen) and it was mandatory that lessons were prepared beforehand by teachers or paid volunteers. The paper needed by students to take notes were provided by the Academy.

Guglielmo proceeded to increase his knowledge of Logica. He realized though that he didn't have a Student Kit so he left the Academy to purchase one from the local Herbalist.

On his way he met a chicken eating some seeds from the market. Suddenly, a stranger proceeded to hack the poor chicken to death.

After ten minutes he returned back to the Room and started to study Logica for six hours.

"OK! Now is time to study Metallurgy I and leatn the skill Recuperate Iron!" -- thought Guglielmo.

After some days and some consumed Kits, he managed to finish the course and get the skill.

After some time, Guglielmo finished learning the Skill Recuperate Iron. He went to Castle and purchased a license for Blacksmith activity and went to the local Potter to order a furnace.

Once the Furnace was deposited in his shop storage, he was ready to recuperate some iron from used items.

Note: From 2.9.5 it will be possible to interact with item in structures inventory page.

Guglielmo was ready to practice the 'just learned' skill. He started first to find some items in bad conditions (< 100%) that he found in the shop storage and that contained (obviously) iron. He started to separate the iron from them but after just five minutes, being a lazy ass, decided to equip a shovel and throw everything in the forge.

He then picked 10 coal pieces, started the fire and sat down on a stool waiting...

After some minutes, he wondered after how much time one would make profit from recuperating iron; surely the forge was expensive, and then he had to get some coal, use the shovel and wait for three hours for the process to finish. He picked a paper, a ink bulb and a chicken feather and started to crunch some numbers.

"*Yawn* Uh?" Guglielmo woke up and realised he did sleep too much. He looked briefly at his note book:

Quote
Notes

- The Forge weighs about 500 Kg so the shop storage should be expanded at least to 750 Kg.
- Coal is needed to recuperate iron
- The process is three hours long

He noticed that the process was completed and 11 iron pieces have been recuperated from 1 Scimitar (98%) and 1 Mace ( 81%).

"Hmm this process require a bit of an investment but it can be very useful if the iron become suddenly scarce; who know what can happen...".

Note: Events of start and end actions have been added to event info page.

The last days have been tough for Guglielmo, he had to fix some bad written contracts so he had very little time to train his parry abilities at the training grounds.

It took more time than he the first course to complete the training course but man, it was rather easy. All he had to do was hitting like a mad man a revolving wooden dummy with a dull wooden, hitting and trying to parry the hits that the dummy was giving back.

Ahh, this was satisfying, better than fixing those stupid contracts and now he knew a technique surely valuable in combat situations! (editorial note: Guglielmo is famous to avoid battles like a cat avoid water) .

Guglielmo knew that he could not become competent in too many skills and that probably could learn at most another one, but it was sure that with time he would manage to raise this limit if there was enough time... he didn't feel well since some weeks.
